Reading like a writer: Terry Tempest Williams
The specific details that stayed in my mind were the description of the Great Salt Lake and the description of the drive at the very start of the piece. I think these stayed in my mind because they sound so familier. I have family from that area and this reading brought me back to that place. Also just in general on how descriptive the drive in was, using specific street corners, left and right turns. It made me think of when I drive home, I know every turn I need to take and every store and gas station on each corner. These small details help open up the entire story. The piece would still be good without them, but as a reader having them makes you think about where you came from. Also, these smaller ideas helped me get an idea what the writer is talking about.
